Designing for people first
Bennett Design maintains an impeccable record of service and we take pride in consistently getting the job done on time and on budget. Our team of institutional interior design professionals are all accredited and registered Interior Designers, and are qualified to develop full construction drawings appropriate for building permit application. Our Designers are all members of A.R.I.D.O. (Association of Registered Interior Designers of Ontario) and I.D.C. (Interior Designers of Canada). Bennett Design Associates is a proud member of the Canada Green Building Council.
At Bennett Design, we believe that interiors and furnishings can play a key role in creating a universally accessible and enjoyable experience. For us, the concept of universal design allows the de-stigmatization of the environment by emphasizing equitable and flexible use of facilities by all people, regardless of physical or cognitive ability. Our institutional interior design work ensures adequate functional space for use by everyone with the least physical effort. Our detailing emphasizes providing simple perceptible information for all users that reinforces intuitive use.
We also recognize that while achievement of universality is the highest design goal, there are still special needs populations that need a higher level or particularly specialized adaptive design, including mental health patients, the elderly and the very young. Balancing privacy with the need for supervision can be achieved not only in the planning, but also in the approach to screening, acoustics, etc., to produce an environment that meets these needs. Our institutional interior design team is dedicated to making an environment feel more ‘familiar’ through use of discrete security and the choice of less traditionally used institutional designs and colour motifs, helping to establish a calming and more comfortable setting for the delivery or services. In addition, we are committed to ensuring that you will be in compliance with all local building, zoning, fire and accessibility (barrier free) codes and laws. We will highlight any non-compliant situations uncovered during the initial institutional interior design site inspection, offering you the opportunity to address them prior to any work being performed.
